The MC505 is bigger and more substantial looking than the 303, with a top side littered with even more knobs, buttons and sliders, polyphony increased to 64 voices (from 28), the pattern‑based 8‑part sequencer now offering a total of 714 preset Patterns (with room on board for 200 user Patterns rather than the 303's 50), 512 on‑board synth patches and 26 Rhythm Sets, and space for 256 user Patches. The MC303, you may recall, had 448 on‑board sounds and 12 drum kits, and no space for user Patches! The MC505's 8‑part multitimbrality, though, is unchanged from the 303.
